September 3rd, 2010 by emilyGood Morning SLO
August 26th, 2010 by emilyI was invited to speak about Kids 4 Kures at Good Morning SLO put on by the San Luis Obispo Chamber of Commerce. It was at Grace Church today and there were hundreds of people there. I think my speech went ok. At least I hope it did! My grandma and Peaches were able to come with me. Well, they brought me there since I can’t drive. I met so many business people and the candidates for Mayor were there too, so I got to hear their speeches. It was my second day of school, so I had to miss the beginning. I hope my teacher doesn’t give me detention! I was told that presentations were recorded and will be added to the Chamber of Commerce website soon. I’ll post the link when it goes up. Thanks for your support!
My goal this summer!
July 20th, 2010 by emilyActually, I have a few goals. Three more days until my acro team goes to Orlando, Florida, to compete in the 2010 Acrobatic Gymnastics National Championships. We’ve been training hard. I didn’t even know that I had the muscles that are sore right now! Wish us luck!
My other goal, of course, is to bring more awareness for Kids 4 Kures. I’ve been busy writing letters to companies, interviewing business people here in San Luis Obispo and contacting community organizations (like Rotary, Chamber of Commerce and Lyon’s Clubs) to ask for speaking opportunities at their meetings.
I’ll keep updating my progress on my blog. Stay tuned for interviews of Peaches Olson and Reese Davies.
Go Team Kids 4 Kures!
July 12th, 2010 by emilyYSC West Coast Ride, here they come! Jen (mom), Lynn, Sandra, Nicole, Angela, and Maria are members of Team Kids 4 Kures. Two more people will join, I just need to be a little more persuasive. I am officially their coach so stay tuned for my training videos. I’m going to blog about their progress.
Go Team Kids 4 Kures!
July 9th, 2010 by emilyThe Young Survival Coalition (http://www.youngsurvival.org/) Tour de Pink 3 day bike ride is coming up in Oct. I’m putting together Team Kids 4 Kures to raise money for this organization. I’m too young to ride (you have to be 18), but my mom and her friends are riding. I’ll send out more info with our website. Please support Team Kids 4 Kures on the YSC West Coast Ride!
Thanks Mimi Phene-McKellar!
July 8th, 2010 by emilyMimi’s the owner of Central Coast Gymnastics (where I’m an acro gymnast). She’s a member of Executive Networking in San Luis Obispo, and recently she talked about Kids 4 Kures at one of her meetings. She sold a bunch of boxes of cards too. You are awesome Mimi! And thanks to the people at Executive Networking for supporting K4K!
Summertime. Lots to do. Let’s see!
July 7th, 2010 by emilyTrain for 2010 Acrobatic Gymnastics National Championships. Sixteen more days and counting. GO CCG!
Write letters to businesses to tell them about Kids 4 Kures. Please write me back Doug Parker, Joe Shoen and Warren Buffett! I really want your advice!
Make a few gift baskets for upcoming silent auctions to support local cancer charities!
Hang out with my friends. They are awesome!
Orlando, Florida, here we come!
June 30th, 2010 by emily
My acrobatic gymnastics team qualified for the 2010 Acrobatic Gymnastics National Championships, so we’re off to Kissimee, Florida. I hope to be able to speak at a few Rotary meetings about Kids 4 Kures while I’m there. I’ve sent letters to Rotary Clubs in Orlando and hope to hear from them soon. I’ll keep you posted. Wish me luck!
Thanks Julie!

Support Kids 4 Kures
Remember the name Emily Flachman. This young student is destined to make a big change in the world!
Flachman is a student at C.E. Teach Elementary School and the founder of Kids 4 Kures (“Good News!” June 19). She and her school friends recently held a fundraiser at a local restaurant for her nonprofit organization.
Flachman was motivated to start this program as a “community action” project encouraged by the teachers at her school. I have had the pleasure of working with Teach Elementary School for the past 17 years with my company, and I am very impressed that its curriculum includes community involvement.
Many of the students select projects that have made great changes in our community, but Flachman took it one step further and has expanded her mission to a much larger scale.
I encourage everyone to visit Kids 4 Kures at http://kids4kures.org and see how you can help Flachman’s program to support cancer charities.
And remember her name, as I am sure she will become a CEO of some large organization one day!
